The blurb which describes this book clearly expresses the fact that this is a dark tale. I expected dark when I read that the heroine is sold by her father on her 18th birthday. In any book with non-consensual activities of any kind--including sex--it is difficult to successfully change the plotline from a story of kidnapping, felony, and rape to one of romance and happily ever after, without offending some readers; I expected such difficulty, but my criticism regarding this story stands nonetheless. For me, the story was uneven and unconvincing. The actions of Lena's father, particularly when her mother died, were too varied to be believed of one character. Lena comments more than once that she believed her father truly loved her mother, despite his burning her intentionally and with premeditation, then crying and screaming in anguish when she died, and a mere two days after her death, taking his own son into his bed and forcing him to wear a dress? That one scene, neither completed nor readdressed, was the point at which I could not suspend my disbelief, even despite the extreme nature of the fairy-tale toned nightmare family situation in which Lena was living. Lena further declares that her mother loved her father, which her mother later disputes. Clearly, there was no spousal love of any sort.

Lena's perceptions, opinions, and the abrupt changes of personality of many of the characters (back and forth repeatedly changing from good to evil, naïve to wily, selfish to generous, and back again) gave me a case of mental whiplash, and made the story unsatisfying and beyond credibility. There was too much thrown in to be able to write a credible, balanced story: tyrant father, spousal and child abuse, child slavery, organized crime, broken billionaire, ghosts (yes, even ghosts), psychotic household staff, hidden (comatose and atrophied) surprise family members, virginity, rape, kink, missing persons, unexpected pregnancy....way too much to be able to be done well. The original premise was a good one; perhaps a strong edit could have saved the story.

Disfigured Love edition by Georgia Le Carre Lori Heaford Nicola Rhead Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

I fell in love with this book. I liked that it was not only a romantic and lustful but that it had a powerful story. It had me reading it till I would fall asleep. You will enjoy it, its a shocker and a heart warmer but mostly shocker. I was at a point where I wanted to punch someone because the feelings were to fierce.
Not my cup of tea. Heroine is a victim the entire book. Male counterpart is sadistic and there is little to no romance. No build up. Story line was depressing and not realistic. Two thumbs very much down. This is no tale of Beauty and the Beast, more like Victim and Abuser.
This is my least favorite book that has a connection to The billionaire Banker series. I felt very little actual love from these characters. Dark with no romance it didn't appeal to me. I felt cheated because I felt that Lena and Guy had great potential. Two very broken individuals who deserved to grow and find their love were cheated of the opportunity. I have a very open mind and found the sex scenes distasteful. While not truly forced it was sex to punish and it had no emotional intimacy to it. The couples are together in the beginning of the book, the middle centers mostly on Lena on her own and then at the end they are brought together for what we are supposed to believe is a great romantic conclusion. It did not work for me and as stated previously I will always feel very cheated by out of what I felt could have been a great book.
The book had 3169 locations on my kindle. The book was about an 18 year old virgin, named Lena and a man, named Guy. Lena was a naïve, vulnerable, strong and lonely girl, who had been emotionally abused by her sadistic father. Guy was a cruel, dominant, dark and caring widower, with a horribly burned face and hand. Lena's father, who had literally tortured her mother and raped his son, sold her and her sisters, one by one to slave traders. Guy bought Lena and took, her to his castle. The book contained forced lesbian interaction, forced sex and oral sex. The book contained a bit of the supernatural. The sex scenes between Guy and Lena were hot, detailed and descriptive. The Guy character was ok, although most people will not like him. The Lena character was devoted to Guy, no matter, what he did or said, which will probably irritate most readers. I have to be honest, what bothered me the most, was the lesbian thing and the things involving her brother. I hated the fact, that her vicious father, never received any punishment. This was a DARK erotica romance, where the males have all the power and the females have no control. BUYER BEWARE, if your are looking for a sweet romance.
