Twisted Justice The Hunt for Justice Series Volume 2 Diane Capri Books

I loved the story of this thriller and would have given it 5 stars. However, the amount of editing mistakes is unforgivable. From missing words, words broken up, missing quote symbols, paragraphs not laid out and obvious wrong character names has brought my star rating down. There is no excuse for the extremely poor editing, if any was done at all!

Note to the author-you tell a great story, don't be lazy when it comes time to deliver that story. Double check the quotations, wording and character names in scenes.

Twisted Justice The Hunt for Justice Series Volume 2 Diane Capri Books Reviews

I would have given this book a 5 star rating except for the fact I found the part about the couples' undying love and closeness except in the face of real trouble hard to comprehend. My husband and I have been married for 50 years and at times we have coasted but when the chips are down or hard times come its then that you see the armour come out and instead of seeing two people we are one united front. So George's behaviour and Willa's acceptance of his behaviour I found completely unbelievable unless of course they are two people simply sharing the same space, but then again maybe that's why in reality marriages no longer are a lasting relationship. Disappointed
I loved the first sentence of the book. The rest of the book was merely OK. On the positive, I did like the protagonist. I thought I was able to get into her head, and she made the book for me. Some of the legalese was interesting, especially on the history of past supreme court justice nominees (as an aside, there is a difference between "nominee" and "appointee," something that was mixed up several times in the book).

On the negative side, the secondary case was rather contrived, and it went on an on without having anything to do with the book. Except that it did. Probably my biggest complaint is that everything was interconnected. The book was a plethora of coincidences, the most aggravating being when the protagonist just happened to get a vital piece of evidence from a gabby old lady who had nothing to do with the case.

The ending was weak, very weak. The book ended with a whimper, not a bang. The bad guy's actions were totally unbelievable.

The author's treatment of the military was way off base. Not only was the general unbelievable, but if her had done all that was ascribed to him, he would never have made it far enough to reach four stars. None of the instances that had been covered up would have been.

On a minor point, I disliked the formatting. Paragraphs were indented one letter on my , which made for a more laborious read.

I did like the protagonist, and she was a saving grace. Overall, the book was an OK passing of time, but it had too many flaws for me to really recommend it with any degree of enthusiasm.
A good mystery, especially when it has a bit of legal suspense, hints to a great read to me. Ms. Capri does not disappoint.

Willa is a woman with an imperfect family, quirky friends and co-workers that can be trusted about as much as a slithering cottonmouth in a patch of kudzu. She has a wonderful relationship with her husband in which life would be perfect if they could just stay sequestered on their private island.

I loved the story and characters. The lesson on Supreme Court Justice nominations was very interesting and I learned much.

I do have to make mention of some formatting issues. There were words that had been broken up and lines that would begin with one word and then drop down to the next line after an indent for no reason. I have contacted the author and trust to hear back that this will be fixed.

I love this series and have to say that inspite of these issues, I enjoyed the story immensely.
I wasn’t impressed by the first book in this series but thought I’d give the author another chance to win my interest. Sadly, she didn’t.

The event that drives the plot in this book doesn’t happen until 175 pages into this 500+ page book. That’s too late. Ninety percent of what goes before is stage setting that probably could have been done in under 100 pages because most of it merely shows us how wealthy and connected the main character and her husband are.

Many pages throughout the book are filled with the main character philosophizing or what reads to me more like preaching. Neither one is narrative that advances the story; they just add pages to the novel.

Willa often comments on her need to be in control. That’s mandatory when she’s on the bench as a federal judge but in her interactions with others, it comes across as arrogant. It makes her hard to like or care about as a character, and that’s one of my prime criteria for continuing a series.

So, good-bye Diane Capri.
